From Frankenstein to Lazurus...Bama wins in double overtime 69-67

Bama goes from the Doghouse to the Penthouse...

Hankerson's second half leadership paves way for great comeback...

Hankerson's inspired second half play
lifted the Tide to the win...
Okay, I'm trying to get my heart started again. This was the worst game and the best game I've ever seen. All I can say is that the Tide never quit. At the end of the first half it would have easy to roll over and die.  Despite playing as bad as a team could play, the Tide kept up the defensive , and finally in the second overtime, Alabama won. The final score was 69-67.  One game at a time. When they start deciding who might go Dancing no one will remember the score. The selectors might remember the comeback. The play them one game at a time. Those are the exact words that Anthony Grant tells his team. The Tide is not playing to make the NCAA field of 64. On Saturday night the Tide won. Now, they turn their attention to Auburn. It is a much improved Auburn who just scored 88 points and lost. If the Tigers score 88 on Tuesday night they will win by 20.

The first half of the game saw the Crimson Tide play worse than they did in South Carolina. The saving grace is they only allowed Ole Miss to score 33.  In the second half the Rebels would score 21 points. At the half is was 33-26 and could have been worse. Green picked up two early fouls and was spectator has his teammates like Frankenstein. They were a dismembered rag tag bunch who gave new meaning to poor shooting. Here is an amazing statistic for all you basketball junkies. Ole MIss shot 52% in the first half but only scored 33 points. The Rebels made shots when they could find one to shoot. Alabama on the other hand was throwing up concrete blocks. High School assassins Trevor Lacey and Levi Randolph were are now officially 0 - forever from behind the line. How two splendid high school bombers can shoot so bad is baffling. How Alabama can win games with such shooting is amazing. You have stats for shooting but not for heart and effort.

Mitchell didn't start but came off the bench for 15 points and got some big rebounds late in the overtimes. Green added another double double to his league leading totat. He had 16 points and 12 big boards. 6 of those were off the offensive glass and he put 2 back for buckets.  The game was very unevenly called and as a result both teams suffered. We'll have more tomorrow...
