Tide and LSU highlight SEC ...
When you look at tonight's big clash it is possible that the winner will win the SEC Crown. That makes a lot of assumptions on my part but I have to wonder if Florida or Georgia could beat either LSU or Bama in the SEC Championship game. Florida took down the Bayou Bengals earlier in the season but surely between then and the SEC Championship Game Mettenburger can find some game. Let's hope it starts first thing next week. Frankly, I don't think anyone in the East can beat Alabama. When you look at the Tide's remaining games the LSU game is the only game logic would dictate a chance for a Tide loss. (A&M is better than we thought though) Tonight's game is going to be a razor sharp close in my view but I think A.J. McCarron is going to make the difference. Why CBS would choose to show Ole Miss and Georgia this afternoon is pretty amazing. I say that with tongue in cheek because I'd much rather the Tide play in the daylight this weekend. One of the interesting side bars of the afternoon game regards the number player in the highschool ranks. Robert Nkemdiche, a Clemson recruit is being heavily courted by Ole Miss. His older brother plays for the Rebels and his mom has made it clear she wants Robert at Ole Miss. Robert is supposedly scheduled to be in attendance today.
Reuben Foster - will he leave Auburn? |
I played golf earlier in the week with a real true orange and blue blood. He thinks its time for Chizik to leave. "It's a job performance issue," he stated. When I asked him about the two new coordinators and other factors that might contribute to Auburn's problems he dismissed those saying that Chizik has become a persona non grata at Auburn and whether he deserves to be fired is really no longer the issue. The Tiger fans have lost hope and faith in the current staff. Pat Dye's public comments about the season being over is not overly popular with Tiger fans either. All this points out the difference between what is going on in Auburn as opposed the Capstone. Alabama is on a roll and that is never good news for Auburn. Still, it seems almost impossible you could go from winning a national championship two season ago and now firing your coach. I know that's good advertising to attract a new head coach at Auburn. Not only does any new blood at Auburn have to compete with Alabama they have to look over their shoulder to see if the hangman is around. If anyone fails to appreciate the importance of history in your respective program you don't understand college football.
My weekend picks:
Bama over LSUGeorgia over Ole Miss
Auburn over NMState
Tennessee over Troy
Florida over Missouri
Texas A&M over State
Arkansas over UTLU
Vandy over Kentucky
