Corn Dog Hell...

Back to Corn dog Hell for the Tigers ...

Yeldon runs into Alabama history

I have no idea what Corn dog heaven might look like. But, we all know what corndog hell looks like don't we? The University of Alabama must be the center of that world.  If Corndog hell is overseen by a devil, his name would be Saban and McCarron would be his right hand man.  If you are football religious and an Alabama fan you have to believe in miracles. Late Saturday night in Deaf Valley, the Tide delivered one, and left LSU fans stunned in disbelief. Straight to Corn dog hell for the faithful.

It sure got quiet in Deaf Valley
With only 1:34 and no times outs left in a game that had the Tide hanging on the edge of defeat, A.J. McCarron, Kevin Norwood, T.J. Yeldon, and the best offensive line in college football said "not on my watch".  In almost lightning like fashion McCarron hooked up with Kevin Norwood for three consecutive passes that took the Tide from deep in their own territory to the promised land. History will record that freshman T.J. Yeldon took a screen pass and scampered 28 yards into Alabama lore. Looking back, it seemed impossible given the manner that the Tide's offense had played in the second half. I'm not taking away anything from the hated LSU, but Saturday night was about Alabama. It was about all things Nick Saban had taught and preached to his team. Adversity is your friend. They practice the 2 minute drill every week. It has not been that the Tide has needed a two minute miracle. But when they needed those precious two minutes the Crimson was ready. How ready? Yeldon scored with 51 second showing on the game clock.

TONGUE TIDE...

Tongue Tide so to speak
In his post game interview immediately after the game Les Miles could not formulate a sentence. Seriously. Miles was so shocked he was left speechless. The man who has a funny answer for everything looked like a Cajun deer frozen by the headlights. He was literally tongue tied so to speak. No pun intended. Miles had made a few bone headed decisions in the game, but had put in a masterful game plan which caused the Tide defense all sorts of match up problems in the secondary, and it almost resulted in an LSU win. Zack Mettenburger had a career night because of those coaching moves. Miles game plan included making sure that Tide safeties got caught in one on one situation with faster LSU wide outs. LSU has talent and plenty of it. I don't know if they have as much as Alabama but its close. Yesterday we wrote the margin would be razor thin but it was closer than that.

Keep these things in mind...

When it mattered most...
Going into the game LSU had to do several things. They had to run the ball well. Mettenburger needed to have a breakout game, and the Tigers needed to control the clock. Hill had over 100 yards rushing. Mettenburger had that career night, and LSU had the ball twice a long as Alabama. They had almost 25 more plays than Alabama. The also got two Tide gifts in the form of fumbles. In summary, the Tiger did each and everything needed to win. And they lost. So what does that say about Alabama? It says a lot of positive things. First, it let's us know that 'Bama won in the toughest place to play in America. Second, it showed the world this team has no quit. Third. it showed that even when the Tide didn't play a great game they could still beat a great team. It showed the rest of the NCAA that National title 15 is no joke, and this team as the right stuff.
