Just short of laughable...

Vandy clearly better than bama, but Vandy isn't the problem...

It wasn't coach speak after all. Grant told the media and anyone else who would listen that Bama was having an identity and effort problem.I guess it is hard to have an identity when you are in the midst of a total breakdown. Some teams show courage and heart when down. This team just rolled over and died for twenty minutes. Sure Vandy got the benefit of a lot of bad calls. That didn't make a one bit of differnce. Alabama was simply outclassed. Tonight we were LSU in the BSC game. How bad was it? It was worse than horrible. It was just short of rigor mortis. Vandy is also a better defensive team than Bama. Not by a little but by a lot. The Tide didn't have a chance. They shoot horses don't they?

Coach Grant was so upset he couldn't talk. His eyes were exorcist red. I kept waiting for his head to spin around like Linda Blair. Not only did the team play bad, but Grant made a huge mistake in my opinion. Down at halftime the Tide opened up in a zone defense and the lead balloned out of reach in the first three minutes of the first half. Andrew Steele got whacked in the head and didn't return.

Two bright spots. One Levi Randolph didn't fold. Second, Moussa Gueye play a lot of minutes and played well. He held his own against Ezeli. He had a couple of blocks. Stamina was a problem but all things considered he did very well. Tony Mitchell was a lost soul. Green was frustarted. Releford couldn't effectively penetrate because Ezeli owned the paint. I don't think Vandy is as good as they played, and I don't think Alabama is as bad as they played. God, I hope not. We'll see when we get to go to Kentucky. Another game like tonight and you have to wonder what is going on with this team. Coach as hinted that they need to find leadership and an identity. Alabama lost their poise and then lost their cool. By that time the game was lost.

It is a shame that Bama didn't play with the fire and effort they did in the last seven minutes. They might have had a chance. I bet the freshman learned a lot tonight,  and one freshman showed a lot. It's a process. This will pass. Things will get better. There will not be another game like this all season. The Tide will lose some more games I'm sure. They'll win more than they lose. But I have to say this was the most lopsided 69-59 game in the history of basketball.
